Chart-Ex Enhances Site with Net CTI Volume Numbers

CHICAGO, Ill., Dec. 1, 2004

Chart-Ex, LLC announced the introduction today of an enhancement to their signature interactive chart, adding the display of net CTI volume numbers to their already information-rich web site. Users can now choose to display, in addition to the total volume traded at each individual price for a given time period, net CTI volume numbers at each price.

Chart-Ex has also responded to users' requests for usability enhancements by making it easy to lock the marker line in their interactive chart at a particular price, which they can now do by clicking on the chart once to set the lock, and again to release it.

It is equally easy to cycle through the total volume and net CTI volumes by holding down the "shift" key while clicking on the chart.

Chart-Ex President, Lisa Erdmier, said, "Chart-Ex strives to give traders what they need to make informed trading decisions, and showing the net position of each CTI player does that. With our unique chart, we give traders a competitive edge by making the dynamics of the market's price action more transparent."

CTI types are an industry-wide standard for classifying trades made by the type of trader completing the transaction, and are defined as:

  • CTI 1 (e.g. Floor Traders) -Transactions initiated and executed by an individual member for his own account, for an account he controls, or for an account in which he has ownership or financial interest.
  • CTI 2 (e.g. Commercials) -Transactions executed for the proprietary account of a clearing member or non-clearing member firm.
  • CTI 3 -Transactions where an individual member or authorized trader executes for the personal account of another individual member, for an account the other individual member controls or for an account in which the other individual member has ownership or financial interest.
  • CTI 4 (e.g. Managed Funds) - Any transaction not meeting the definition of CTI 1, 2 or 3. (These should be non-member customer transactions).
